Contribution
I am a professional media and documentary photographer, film producer, broadcast journalist, and graphic designer. I have published and guest-edited publications such as the Börse-online and Courage-online Finanzen Verlag both of which are German publications and have had some of my work displayed at the Market Theater Foundation in South Africa.
I have worked on a number of documentary films covering broad topics such as illegal chang’aa brewing in Mathare Slums, the LGBT Community in Kenya, Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, Migori Gold Mines, Illegal Abortions process in Nyalenda Slum (Kisumu), Prostitution business and borderline cops in Huruma, Nairobi, Children addicted on glue but still playing football, Anti-IEBC protests in Kisumu, Atheist Society meeting, amputee football to mention a few.
I have had the privilege and opportunity to work on assignments for the following: the National
Geographic (through Wall To Wall, a Warner Brothers Production Company based in the UK), Al Jazeera English, the Grain Media, The Economist UK, Lonelyleap, Lion TV, Rai Media, Italian Media, Nas Daily, Agency VU based in France and Al Safar Project.
As a faculty member, and one of the founding trainers in photography at Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI), a digital media college based in Nairobi Kenya, where I had the opportunity to teach visual arts until 2017 I am aware of the laws concerning filming and photography in East Africa and master not only in the practical aspect of a photographer’s job but also in the legal and paperwork processes.
Currently, I have chosen to direct my attention on making life better for other visual artists and less on
exhibiting my own works. I offer professional advice to visual artists on their careers and try as much as
possible to guide them into visual ‘art trouble’. In my spare time I serve on Boards and Advisory Boards
of local and national arts organizations.
